It’s Farmer’s Market Season!

With spring in full swing and summer on the way, there’s no better way to spend a couple hours than strolling through one of Charlotte’s fabulous local farmer’s markets. These local outdoor markets feature everything from beautiful flowers to fresh, local produce to all natural health and beauty goods. Different areas all over the Charlotte region have their own market and offerings, and here are a few you can take advantage of.

The Cotswold Farmer’s Market, located at 309 South Sharon Amity Road in the heart of Charlotte, was founded in 2016 by the Rotary Club of Charlotte Providence. This market truly focuses on “creating a thriving community environment.” Plus, all of the produce, meat, prepared foods, bath and body goods and more are all made or harvested within a 100-mile radius of the market’s location. The market is open on Saturdays from 8 AM to noon.

The largest farmers market in the area is the Charlotte Regional Farmer’s Market, located at 1801 Yorkmont Road open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 AM to 6 PM, and on Sunday from noon to 6 PM. The market is operated by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and features five open air sheds with a variety of produce, local crafts, beautiful blooms, prepared foods and baked goods.

The oldest farmer’s market in the city is the Mecklenburg County Market which began in 1937 at 1515 Harding Place in an old red brick building with white doors. You find local produce here as well as homemade and family recipe prepared foods. The Mecklenburg County Market is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, on Saturday from 7 AM to 3 PM, and on Sunday from noon to 5 PM.
